BARTIROMO: Let me ask you a question on immigration. Lawyers are planning a class action suit right now over the State Department's offer of visas to highly skilled immigrants last month, even though the Department of Citizenship said there were no more visas available. What happened?
Dr. RICE: Well, this was a case in which for--at a certain point in time, we'd not filled the entire quota for these special immigrant visas. And made an announcement of that. But when they were filled, we had to cut it off at that point. There's a ceiling that's set every year and when that ceiling was reached, then we couldn't issue the visas any longer. But we're prepared to talk to people about what happened here. If there were problems in communication then those should be looked at. But it's pretty simple. We operate under a particular ceiling, and when that ceiling is filled, then we have to--we have to live within it.
BARTIROMO: And unfortunately, aren't these the exact type of people, very highly skilled, some physicians, that America wants to attract?
Dr. RICE: Well, it goes back to the point that I--that I made. A lot of people want to come to the United States. People will skills want to come to the United States. I'm a very big believer in having those people come to the United States, because the truth of the matter is, we don't, ourselves, produce enough of that skilled labor. We need to work on the educational front to make sure that we are producing us the numbers of engineers and the numbers of software people and the numbers of physicians that we need.
Dr. RICE: But we need immigration as well. The ceilings have been set. They are not ceilings that we set, they're set in the--they're set by statute, and I know that there are many who would like to see them raised, but that's a--that's a matter for the administration and Congress.

I got the e-mail saying that they have mailed my 485 approval notice on August 4 - but nothing after that - will the notice come to me at home or will it go to the lawyer - also how long before the card production e-mail gets here - not that I am in a tearing hurry - I have waited several years so what is another month ?

I can tell you - based on my observation from folks who have received the card before, within 7-10 days your card should be on its way to your HOME not LAWYER.

I have mentioned IV to a some Indians. They have no interest. Some of them are not bothered about retrogression. They exepect the GC to fall in their lap while they are sipping tea and eating samosa.
Also, it is hard to trust a mainly Indian set up. The Indian contracting companies have set a very shameless level. I told my friends that IV appears different but it is hard to change your opinion when you see something else 10 times a day.
I apolozie to the sensitive Indians if I this is breaking news. But this is the general feeling and a reason for hate in the blogs: where there is smoke there is fire. It is embarassing.

i was not able to attend the IV rally..emergency reasons..but still its fair for me to suffer..
its highly unlikely we can see a reform. I agree with logiclife's post..we deserve what we are getting into..
of the 800K applications u saw applying for AOS..even if 10K had come to DC rally it'd made a huge diff..
we all do line up for GCs like herds but dont have the guts to attend..
i know of so many ppl who say "all this rally is ridiculous".. and i dont pity them those who wait for 10 years..becoz u deserve to suffer and will continually suffer..

employer. I know many cases like this, people approach these Bodyshoppers to get H1, or to convert H4 to H1..... many pay even H1 processing fees(which is illegal)..... just pray that after getting H1 they will get some project and the employer will pay....... they won't dare to ask employer.... becoz he can just revoke H1 and just be done with it...... many many cases....

Since you consider that IV did nothing to reverse July 2 VB, why are you hanging around here? If you credit AILA/AILF why don't you write to them to file Class Action against USCIS to process case FIFO? They might do it or they might just laugh it off
I would say the reversal of the July 2 visa bulletine didn't just happen because of the flowers the members sent, the law suit AILA wanted to file against USCIS was one of the major reason apart from the California's Lawmakers letter. So please don't try to cut peoples idea by trying to belittle them, if you don't agree with them it is ok, if everyone agreed on the same thing life will be so dull.

I agree with nousername and sledgehammer. It's funny how people justify unethical behavior by saying hey everybody is just trying to improve their own lives. Criminals are trying to improve their own life too and that doesn't excuse crime. The issue here is simple. This lady went for the quick and easy way out, applied for an H1B with some sleazy body shopper without having a project in hand and in the process, no doubt deprived someone better-deserving who actually had a job in hand.
Anyways, if you are not being paid, you are out of status. Best option for you is to apply for a COS to H4 right away so your out-of-status time doesn't come back to haunt you later. Without pay stubs it is doubtful that it will be approved so most probably you might have to go back to your home country and re-enter on an H4 stamp.
or if you are not getting paid you can complain to labor department. Your employer is that body shopper and he should pay you for the period of your h1. He has proved that he has capacity to pay you by filing for LCA and h1b. you having a project was never a condition for you getting paid from your employer. complain to labor department or USCIS if you are not getting paid.

Honestly i dont think any one person should "organize" it. If something goes wrong, then organizer will be held which is un-necessary trouble for some one wanting to do good!

Thanks Zooom, for starting this thread. I've mentioned about IV Core's selfless service in our 'Thanks' thread couple of days ago but didn't know about the magnitude. $64k is helluva money and its just not right coming from one pocket to favor thousands of others. Aman and other core, day by day you raise above and beyond our imaginations as a leader and guide. We assure you that you will not pay another single dime from your pocket.

It means they have used 90K Visa out of 140-150K ..it means 50K visa left for next 5 month..not sure how much visa dates wlll be moved.
